Giving Fund:
Improving Animal Welfare

A chicken inside a cramped wire cage

Our Giving Fund: Improving Animal Welfare is the most flexible way to support top animal welfare organizations. Sometimes time-sensitive opportunities arise that require quick action. At other times, organizations need certainty in their funding streams to hire new staff and launch new campaigns and programs.

We use the donation fund to support the most promising initiatives of highly effective animal welfare organizations. We decide on the allocation of funds every six months in order to be able to respond flexibly to the needs of the organizations we support. To this end, we work closely with the EA Animal Welfare Fund and are guided by its specific recommendations.

Why choose a Giving Fund at all?

The donation fund is the easiest way to maximize the impact of your donation. Together with our reviewers and other external experts, we relieve you of the decision of having to choose between different effective organizations that work effectively for greater animal welfare. If you are interested in making a regular donation, the fund ensures that you are supporting the most promising initiatives at any given time without having to regularly review or update your donation. You can find more information in our article “What are donation funds?”.

How does the Giving Fund maximize your impact?

  • It supports programs that we and our partners have identified as particularly promising and effective at the time, but which we do not recommend as a top organization - for example because the program is a highly effective but time-limited initiative.
  • It grants funds for urgent, time-critical projects.
  • If you have Effektiv Spenden you can deduct your donation from tax in Germany, Austria and Switzerland and therefore donate even more generously.

How do we decide who the Giving Fund supports?

Our Giving Fund: Improving Animal Welfare is based on the EA Animal Welfare Fund. Together with their fund managers, we decide on the allocation of funds every six months in order to be able to respond flexibly to the needs of the most effective animal welfare organizations. In addition to our top organizations, we also consider other projects or organizations that are particularly promising and effective, but which we do not (yet) present as separate recommendations on our platform. This is also important because it allows the fund to support smaller but highly effective initiatives and projects that cannot be presented as individual recommendations on our platform due to their small size or time limit. Effektiv Spenden due to their small size or time limit.

In the past, as part of this donation fund, in addition to the EA Animal Welfare Fund also with Animal Charity Evaluators,, Focus Philanthropy and other international experts.
