Hello everyone,
We (Arthur and Daan G.) are excited to kick off Kaiko’s first ever Christmas giving campaign: an opportunity for us as a team to support a few extremely effective charities together.
Why we’re doing this
As we wrap up the year, many of us are reflecting on what went well, what we’re grateful for, and how we can have a positive impact beyond our day-to-day work.
This giving campaign is a way for us, as a team, to support a small number of carefully chosen and impactful causes that connect to the kind of work we do and the values we care about, especially around health and access to care. Even relatively modest contributions from people in our position can create a lot of impact.
At the same time, we know everyone has their own priorities, projects, and timing when it comes to giving. You are encouraged to take part if it feels right for you, to support other causes of your choice, or to do both.
How the kaiko.ai giving campaign works
For the next 10 days, we invite anyone who’s interested to: Make a donation (any amount that feels right to you) and direct it to a small group of high-impact charities we’ve pre-selected. Participation is completely voluntary and confidential.
How much should you donate? Ultimately, it’s about what feels right for you; there is no “correct” number. If you’re still unsure, feel free to reach out to either Arthur or Daan.
Giving match: We’re also excited to announce that Kaiko will match donations up to a total of 10k EUR.
The charities we support
Based on the extensive research base of Givewell (givewell.org/charities/top-charities), we have selected three organizations that work to prevent disease and improve child health in low-income countries:
• Against Malaria Foundation (AMF): funds insecticide-treated bed nets that protect families from malaria-carrying mosquitoes.
• Helen Keller International: supports vitamin A supplementation, reducing child blindness and mortality.
• New Incentives: provides small cash incentives for caregivers to bring their children for routine vaccinations.
100% of the money raised will go to those three charities.

How we selected them
Charities are a bit like startups: some create vastly more value per dollar than others.
We wanted to:
• focus on evidence-based programs where impact can be measured
• prioritize places where each dollar can go unusually far,
• find charities that can use additional funds effectively, and
• Choose organizations with a strong track record and independent evaluation.
That’s why we chose AMF, Helen Keller International, and New Incentives for this first campaign.
How tax deductibility works
For this campaign, all donations to the select registered charities are tax-deductible:
- In Switzerland, your tax bill decreases by your marginal tax rate for any amount above CHF 100.
- For example: for every $1 you donate, and assuming a 20% marginal tax rate, you effectively only spend $0.80.
If you’d like more clarification on what this would mean for you, please feel free to contact Arthur or Daan.
We’re also happy to hear any ideas you might have for a future round!
Against Malaria Foundation
More than 1,000 children die of malaria every day. The Against Malaria Foundation distributes mosquito nets in developing countries that save lives. For just $1.50, a mosquito net protects two people from malaria for three years. Learn more
Helen Keller International
Millions of children have died or gone blind in recent decades as a result of vitamin A deficiency. Helen Keller International supports government programs that provide at-risk infants with high-dose vitamin A capsules. Learn more
New Incentives
Many children in emerging and developing countries are inadequately vaccinated and therefore exposed to dangerous diseases. New Incentives offers families in northwestern Nigeria small financial incentives to bring their children to clinics for routine vaccinations. Learn more
